What Does Reglan Do?
Reglan, also known by the generic name metoclopramide, is a short-term treatment option for heartburn caused by gastro esophageal reflux disorder (GERD). Reglan can also be used on a short-term basis to treat nausea and other symptoms caused by slow gastric emptying in people with diabetes (a condition known as diabetes gastro paresis).
If given in the wrong dosage or for too long, Reglan poisoning can result in:
- Parkinson's Disease-like tremors
- A mask-like facial appearance
- Fever, stiffness, sweating, rapid breathing
