When you're injured in an accident you're at a tremendous disadvantage. While you're laying in a hospital bed, the insurance company for the person who hurt you is investigating the accident and, and doing everything that they can to defend themselves.
Here at Plattner Verderame, the approach we take on each case is to thoroughly investigate everything needed. We gather up all the information, the evidence, the facts, consult with the appropriate experts so we can get our clients what they deserve.
A serious injury is an injury that has a serious impact on a client's life, what they do, what they can do, how they have to change what they do.
The serious injuries that we handle here at Plattner Verderame involve death, brain damage and paralysis. Catastrophic events that are life-changing.
One of our significant cases I can recall involved a 5-year-old boy who suffered a brain injury in an auto accident and the brain injury was serious enough that he was never going to be able to fully care for himself the rest of his life. And the concern of his parents was while they were there willing and able to do it during their lifetimes what would happen after they passed away. And in that case we were able to recover for them enough money to take care of the boy for his entire life even after they had passed.
Probably the biggest thing is we relieve uncertainty. We know how things are supposed to go and for something that's really new and different and unsettling at what's already a terrifying time for folks we can come in and, and show them the path.
Jimmy was a wheelchair-bound teenager who was sexually and physically abused in a nursing home and we were able to get him justice and enough money by that he could pick his own nursing home in the future and doesn't have to be worried about where he lives.
One of the most important pieces of advice I think I could give for someone who has been significantly injured or someone in their family has is to not try and go it alone. There are too many pitfalls, things that could trip you up along the way to keep you from getting the justice you deserve.
