Unfortunately, when motorcycle accidents happen, motorcycle riders usually suffer tragic permanent injuries and are often killed.   In most instances, the crashes are not the motorcyclists' fault.   Other drivers on the road simply don't pay attention:  they talk on cell phones, text message, shuffle papers, tune the radio, or do anything other than look out ahead of them.  Motorcycle riders are more exposed and vulnerable to injury.  Even the most careful cyclist can be injured simply while waiting for a light to chage at a stop light.  And, what would normally be a simple rear-end accident between two cars, can result in the death of an innocent rider.

Our law firm has handled more cases of this type than we can count.  As a motorcycle owner and rider myself, I take it to heart when someone suffers in this type of tragedy.  If you or a loved one are in an accident on a motorcycle, there are some things you should do right away.  Naturally, it is difficult when you are injured, or helping and by the side of someone who is injured, to do these things yourself.  So, the best thing you can do is get a lawyer with experience in these cases who can advocate for you and start an investigation right away.

First, investigators from an insurance company or a investigation firm may call you and try to get a recorded statement.  Do not speak with them.

Second, if anyone solicits you or tries to get you to go with a law firm, particularly if they go to the hospital or your home, avoid them.  This is often just a broker trolling for cases, not a lawyer with actual trial experience.

Third, get on the internet or check with the State Bar of Arizona to look for recommendations on what law firm to hire.  Research the lawyer on the net, has that lawyer tried cases?  What kind of reputation does that lawyer have in the community?

Fourth, take photographs of any physical injuries or bruises that you may have suffered.  In serious cases, the police will take photgraphs of the accident scene and the vehicles involved in the crash.  But, if you take pictures of your own injuries, and bruises, you will be creating useful evidence that will be helpful later on.

Fifth, hire a lawyer as quickly as you can.  A good lawyer will have a regular working relationship with an investigtor.  That investigator will take statements from witnesses, take his own photos of the accident scene, find out background and insurance information about the person who called, and get the cases moving in a direction that protects the victim.

We are available to help anyone who is injured in a motorcycle accident and are dedicated to protecting the victims of these tragedies.
