Intersection of Power and Queen Creek in Gilbert Arizona.jpgA man was killed and a woman was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in Gilbert on Friday night.

Fire Capt. Mike Connor said the accident near the intersection of Power and Queen Creek roads was reported shortly before 9 p.m.

Apparently no one witnessed the crash and police are unsure how it occurred, Connor said. Investigators said they believe alcohol was a factor.

A passerby found the victims after he noticed the motorcycle's illuminated brake light in a garden bed off the side of the road, Connor said. It is unclear how long the victims were lying by the road.

Firefighters tried to revive a man in his early 40s, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Connor said. A 44-year-old woman was flown to Osborn Medical Center in Scottsdale with a serious head injury, he said.

Connor said neither rider was wearing a helmet.

Power Road was closed for more than five hours while authorities investigated the accident, he said.
