A pedestrian was taken to the hospital in critical condition Thursday after he was hit crossing the street in southern Phoenix.

The 55-year-old man was hit by a 19-year-old woman near 2200 East Southern Avenue at about 4:35 p.m., police said.

Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the incident, police said.
