A 46-year-old man died after being struck by an SUV while attempting to cross the street late Saturday, Phoenix police said.

The man was attempting to cross Cave Creek Road mid-block near East Vogel Street about 11:30 p.m. and was struck by a northbound Dodge SUV, said Lt. Scott Sowerwine.

The man was transported to a local hospital where he died, police said. The driver of the SUV, identified as Michael Crowley, 61, was not injured.

Sowerwine said investigators do not believe Crowley was impaired at the time of the crash.

Police had yet to notify the victim's family and have not released his name.
