Please take precautions when biking - especially if it is at night. Drivers may have a hard time seeing bicyclists if they do not use bicycle lights and wear light colored clothing. "A headlight and a rear reflector are required by Arizona law for riding at night. Red tail lights are not required but highly recommended."
Tempe has many bike lanes but they are not everywhere and bicyclists have a responsibility to themselves to try and ride as safely as possible by using bike lanes and safety equipment.
But a lot of Arizona motorists don't seem willing to share the road with bicycles. As gas prices rise along with health and environmental concerns, the number of bikes on our streets is growing. Drivers, please watch for bicycles and respect their safety.
If you or a loved one has been hurt in a bicycle accident, please contact Plattner Verderame, P.C. for assistance.

I've driven motorcycles and ridden bikes in all kinds of conditions and car drivers just don't see cyclists. Sometimes it is because of distractions like texting and other times its because of blind spots not covered by mirrors. My rule now is to not bike at night at all and in the day only in very visible and safe areas (like mountain biking).
