Summer is officially upon us, and people around the country are ready for a little rest and relaxation in the sun. - Have the right gear, including flotation devices, rope, well-fitting protective shoes and situation-appropriate clothing (remember that the temperature can fluctuate wildly between dusk and dawn)
- Carry adequate food and water - you might even want to bring extra in case of the unexpected
- Never set out on the river without telling someone where you will be and approximately when you plan on returning
